Inside Villa Paris, there is also the Russicum Chapel, built in 1936 when the summer residence of the Vatican’s Russicum College arrived in Roseto degli Abruzzi. Inside, the chapel presents a rectangular floor plan with a central nave and two side aisles. The walls are lined with marble and feature some icons of great artistic value. In the center of the nave stands the iconostasis, a carved wooden structure that separates the sanctuary from the nave.
The chapel is dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist and adorned with frescoes in a neo-Byzantine style depicting the life of the saint. The iconostasis was painted by Gregorius Maltzeff, an artist of Russian origin.
